A Passionate Life

ree

Swimming alone is a metaphor. Although a lifeguard might say you should never swim alone and always bring a buddy with you, what's held here is the meaning behind swimming freely. We can't bring someone with us; they come of their own free-will. We often use language such as "she twisted my arm" or "somebody made me do it." While these statements are popular, they aren't true. No one can do anything to you without your permission. At least, this is what I like to believe is true.

Without self-confidence, there is always the risk of becoming victimized. The world contains many pitfalls for those willing to fall into them. And while this may anger some people who hold on to the past like a badge of honor, the question remains: Who am I to suffer? What brought this forward when life feels like a failure, and the proverbial disaster (and sometimes a very real disaster) appears? In other words, how does one become so aware of the solid state of hard times? To get off the band wagon, I'll conclude it here:

Never mind what you should have, would have, could have done. Leave that part behind you. Now is the time to remember you are made Holy in His image, and every hair on your head has been accounted for completely. So, when the Big Bad Wolf comes to your door, send the wolf away. There are no "buts."
